Patricia Wheeler of Woodland wrote this past week "That flag in South Carolina isn't the Confederate flag at all. It's Lee's battle flag. It began to be flown in the South in the 1960s as the civil rights struggles began and the Supreme Court started to rule against southern states. If flying it at the SC state house is appropriate, then we should have the British flag flying in Massachusetts, the French flag in Louisiana, and the Mexican and Spanish flags here in California.
